Star Fruit, or Carambola, is a wonderful fruit found in many parts of the tropics. It’s common to Asia and parts of South America and the South Pacific. The flavor tends to be rather tart when under-ripe and a bit watery and some say bland when ripe. It can be great in salads and with seafood.

These were photographed in Bangkok, Thailand at a street stand of a fresh food market. Their shapes, color and waxy surface offer a great subject to photograph.
