Friends of mine are building a fantastic Balinese-style home near the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. In one corner of their land they are also building this more classic Thai-style home in which their mother will live. It’s going to be beautiful, too.

The monsoon rain had stopped the workers for a few of hours, but work resumed thereafter. The workers use low-tech tools and live on the property until the project is finished. This carpenter is cutting logs which were purchased from a recycling company which sells old timbers from 50+ year old buildings that had been leveled. The timbers are straighter and harder than what is typically available to purchase as newly cut.
