No Hands Bridge II
No Hands Bridge II

This old bridge over the American River near Auburn, California was once a railway bridge allowing access to the nearby limestone quarry. The rails were removed for the steel during World War II, so today the bridge provides passage for horsemen, trail runners, and hikers.

The water-sculpted rock in the foreground is blue-green serpentine. It’s very smooth to the touch, and a bit risky to traverse when wet.
